AsprStripperXP

 

 

AsprStripperXP is an unpacker for the programs packed with ASProtect. It isn't capable to unprotect those programs, it is only for unpacking.

 

AsprStripperXP was written as program for the private use of the author only, but he decided the soft would be useful for someone. First of all, for programmers who use ASProtect to protect their programs. Perhaps, it would be interesting for them to learn the real power of protection which is given by ASProtect. (I hope Alexey Solodovnikov respects criticism and will not take it to his heart).

 

You can only use AsprStripperXP for unpacking your own programs (programs which are written and packed by you), using for any other purposes of this program is strictly forbidden and illegal. Author does extremely mind against the use of his program for illegal purpose.

 

Use:

To open file use button «open»;

To set up options use button «options»;

To start unpacking use button «unpacking»;

 

Features of AsprStripperXP:

   -   dumping of the victim program;

   -   finding and remaking import table;

   -   finding and remaking relocation table;

   -   rebuilding resources section;

   -   cleaning up the victim program (deleting aspr sections);

   -   finding RVA API-calls and OEP;

   -   finding and restoring stolen bytes;

   -   and something more :)

 

AsprStripperXP is not able to (and will not be able to):

   -   do API-emulation;

   -   restore encrypted parts of program.

 

Also you are able to use AsprStripperXP for researching packed program. This feature called “reversing”. To do this you must set in the options dialog where you want the program to be stopped, run SoftICE with command “i3here on”, and push button “reversing” on the stripper`s main window.

 

The archive also contains the small loader for SoftICE. It could be used both with the AsprStripperXP to run packed and unpacked programs and separately.

 

During the unpacking victim program may became executed. Usually it happens when program is not packed with the ASProtect.

 

AsprStripperXP corresponds to “as is” standard. Author will not respond in any damage made by his program. If you want to avoid it do not use it.

 

Requirements:

AsprStripperXP works only under 2k and XP. Also you must have administrator’s rights. There will be no win9x version.
